about

Nellie Casman and her husband Samuel Steinberg wrote Yossel, which she performed in Warsaw between the wars. It's still in the repertoire of most Yiddish musicians, a spicy, lusty song, in which the singer admits that, although she's gotten married to a rich, good-looking guy, she still desires Yossel.
Sidney Beckerman (1919-2007) was a klezmer clarinetist and son of renowned Jewish musical traditionalist Shloymke Beckerman, who recorded during the 1920s. A Bulgar is a type of Eastern European dance, very popular in klezmer music.
